my new book explorations !!!  Gullu Gudiya ke Nanhe Gagan Mein...

Interesting insights about the project:

Inspiration for Gullu Gudiya’s character comes from my own childhood as how my mother used to dress me up. The cloths are the traditional South Indian costume which young girls wear. The length of the skirt used to be long till the toe so one has to always pull it up to walk or run. The black bindi on forehead with Kajal and a flower pined up on hair are some one of details which I visualized for GULLU.

For the character of butterfly a bright wash of the seven colors is used to highlight its uniqueness which attracts Gullu Gudiya in the story. The seven colors used for the butterfly plays a important role in the story as the wraps up.

Creating a cloudy world at sky, for the second phase of the story is the most fun part to share. I started observing and painting the sky in different time durations. Documentation of details such as how clouds form interesting shapes and vivid color schemes of sky came really handy while preparation of the final spreads for the book.
